『Frightened Birds Head House』はコンピレーションである。実務的なレーベルの名刺という意味を含む「サンプラー」ではない。日本と諸外国、いや、音楽とあなたのはざまに橋をかけるものだ。1970年代の終わりごろ、大企業でないレコード店や個人によって作られたレコードやカセット（それは屋号とロゴとリリースしたい何かがあればよかった）たちもそんな役割を果たしていた。たとえ作り手にそのつもりがなかったしても、だ。
マンチェスターではFactory。ブリュッセルならLes Disques du Crépuscule。ハンブルクはZickzack。大阪はVanity。リリースすべてがそうだとはいわないが、これらが出していたコンピレーションは得体が知れず、結果として生まれた多様性・越境性がある。同時にあまりに審美へ傾いていたおかげで、ビジネスとしては短命であった。理想が先行する時代に生まれたこれらのレーベルは、やりかけの仕事を遺して引いていった。
その完遂や存続を当事者やその周辺だけに押し付けるべきではない。彼らの作品に出会い、大なり小なり人生を左右されてきたことに説明をつけねばならない...。(ライナーノートより)

Frightened Birds Head House is a compilation album. This is not a sort of ‘sampler’ which, in a practical sense, is  the label’s contact card.  Around the end of the 1970s, records and cassette tapes produced by independent record shops or individuals—these were just with a label’s name, logo and some music they wanted to release—would have had the similar role to this compilation, fighting bird head house (even if the creators intended it or not). In Manchester, it was Factory; in Brussels, Les Disques du Crépuscule; in Hamburg, Zickzack; and in Osaka, Vanity.  It could be said that their work remained unfinished, but the continuation of the work should not be demanded solely on them.  With that thought, a new music label, MU-DOMO was opened.  (from the linernote)
